About This Site: A Caregiver’s Perspective

Turning Fear into a Focused Plan

If you’ve just received a heartworm diagnosis for your dog, we know exactly what you’re feeling. Your heart sinks, your mind races with "what-ifs," and the internet can be a scary place filled with worst-case scenarios.

We created this site to be the calm in that storm.

Why We Started This Journey

We are rescue dog caregivers who have stood exactly where you are. Our journey began with a rescue dog who faced a difficult heartworm diagnosis. Navigating the months of treatment and the emotional weight of "doing it right" taught us that pet parents need more than just medical instructions—they need emotional support and practical, lived-experience advice.

We’ve spent years fostering and caring for dogs through the recovery process. We’ve learned how to try and keep a dog calm and content during treatment, how to spot the subtle signs of discomfort, and how to advocate for a dog's well-being during vet visits.

Our Approach to Information

While this site is rooted in lived experience, it is grounded in careful research. We believe in:

  • Slowing Down: Making decisions out of love and logic, not panic.

  • The Emotional Bridge: We focus on the "how-to" of daily life during recovery—the parts of the journey that happen between your vet appointments.

  • Verified Resources: We base our content on protocols from leading authorities to ensure you are getting factual information.

The Heartworm Healing Guide

Navigating this journey is about attempting to find calm for both you and your dog during a stressful time. Our Heartworm Healing Guide shares the supportive strategies we have used in our own rescue and adoption work to try and maintain a steady recovery. A Note on Veterinary Care

This site does not provide medical or veterinary advice.
We are dedicated caregivers, not licensed veterinarians. Heartworm disease is a serious medical condition that requires professional intervention. All diagnosis and treatment decisions should be made in consultation with a licensed veterinarian who understands your dog’s specific health history and needs.
